Even plants need sunshine, water, and care to grow strong and tall.Our children also need support, especially our most vulnerable children in foster care.I am so proud of our team, leadership and the wonderful CASA/GAL volunteers that give so much of their time, care and oversight tothe children that we serve.In this Voice edition, from our current child statistics to stories from our volunteers, we share with you some of the on-going challenges due to the increase in child abuse and neglect cases.In working directly with children and families in and out of the courtroom, we ensure they are treated with respect, patience and dignity while working together in a triage approach to EVERY CHILDproblem solve for the best interests of our children.I am asked often, so what does the CASA/GAL volunteer really do and how do they IS A DIFFERENTimpact the lives of children? Is your role really that important if DCFS is already involved?I answer with an resounding YESit makes all the difference.CASA/GAL (Court FLOWERTHATAppointed Special Advocates/Guardian ad Litem)volunteers have an interest in improving the life of the child and provides consistency from beginning to end of their case.Our volunteers TOGETHERgive each child the specialized attention he or she needs and in working with the courts, the childrens family, child welfare and foster care agencies, we advocate for a brighter future.MAKES THISWhat is common across these efforts is that CASA/GAL volunteers are specially trained and competent to address the many difficulties faced by these children and to overcome barriers that may prevent or delay placement into safe, permanent homes. WORLD AYour gift to our child advocacy organization is always appreciated, but perhaps now BEAUTIFUL more than ever. Our case numbers are higher now than at any time during our organizations 33 year history. Cases have nearly doubled since the pandemic and, unfortunately, we do not GARDEN.anticipate the influx of cases to slow down.Thank you for your commitment to CASA Kane County and working with us to serve the children of our community.
