While the beginning of the year saw volunteers solely participating online in educational offerings, in March CASA Kane County beganIN VOLUNTEERSoffering hybrid classes where participants are in person and online. Every class that has been offered as a hybrid class has filled its in person capacity, which is a great indicator that people are interested in meeting face to face. Some of the most frequently attended classes continue to be our Coffee Case Talks and Fireside Chats. These classes start with a brief overview of a current topic like learning more about educational advocacy or report writing tips and tricks and continues with volunteers sharing experiences relating to their cases and finding support or guidance from other volunteers and staff. CASA Kane County is fortunate to have excellent speakers present on hard-hitting topics like:Becoming More Aware of Child Abuse & Neglect in a Virtual World - Jennifer SamartanoThe Anatomy of AddictionDr. Steve Holtsford & Nathan Lanthrum 4,441In addition to our continuing education we have already sworn in twenty-three CASA/GAL volunteers that completed Pre-Servicetraining in March, and in May,VOLUNTEERstarted one of our largest classes to date with thirty-one new participants in training.
