Empathy and Advocacy for LGBTQIA+ Youth and Families

Join Gary Pate, LCSW, YouthCare Senior Trainer, to learn about sensitive assessment strategies, safety concerns and the effects of minority stress on healthy identity development for LGBTQIA+ youth and families.  The new DCFS Procedure 302, Appendix K (Support and Well-Being of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning/Queer, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) Children and Youth) will be reviewed.  The role of family acceptance and family rejection will be explored, and information related to gender affirming care will be provided.
