CASA Kane County

Board of Directors – Code of Ethics

 

This Code of Ethics provides volunteers, Board of Directors and staff guidelines for professional behavior and ethical conduct. CASA Kane County is committed to operating in an honest, fair, professional, and compassionate manner. We are an inclusive organization which seeks to reflect the diversity of our families and the community we serve.

  • CASA Kane County volunteers, BOD and staff shall avoid having any conflict of interest with the organization. Where such a conflict occurs or becomes known, the individual in question shall reveal the conflict and recuse from all action or activities related to that conflict.
  • CASA Kane County volunteer, BOD and staff shall not have a financial interest in the organization beyond normal pay for staff and consultants.
  • CASA Kane County volunteers, BOD and staff shall keep information regarding cases confidential, sharing necessary information only with appropriate persons. Personal information about volunteers will also be kept confidential.
  • CASA Kane County volunteers, BOD and staff shall treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
  • CASA Kane County volunteers, BOD and staff shall keep all donor related materials and the sharing of information confidential.
  • CASA Kane County volunteers, BOD and staff shall use influence appropriately, shall avoid the appearance of impropriety, and shall not use the position to promote personal gain.
  • CASA Kane County volunteers, BOD and staff will uphold the credibility and dignity of the organization by conducting all business in an honest, fair, professional, and humane manner.
  • CASA Kane County volunteers, BOD and staff will not use their program relationship for inappropriate personal, professional, or financial gain.
  • CASA Kane County programs and volunteers will not practice, condone, facilitate, or participate in any form of discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, religion, national origin, marital status, political belief, or mental or physical handicap.
  • CASA KANE COUNTY programs and volunteers must respect a child’s inherent right to grow up with dignity in a safe and permanent environment that meets that child’s best interests.
