Become a Volunteer

Why Should You Volunteer and How?

Because you will change the life of a child you needs you.  You will impact your immediate community.  You will connect with and be inspired by others. You will be filled with hope in our collective ability to help one another.  CASA/GAL is not your ordinary volunteer experience, but among the most impactful and inspirational. If you are interested in becoming a CASA/GAL volunteer:

What Does A CASA/GAL Volunteer Do?

Develop and Maintain a Relationship with the Child

Visit with the child once every 30 days, learning all you can about the child and his or her family and life.

Monitor Case Details

Collaborate with others to ensure necessary services are provided and are in the child’s best interest. Record all details, observations and learnings.

Report Findings

Attend court hearings concerning the child and provide a written report to the court with factual information. Also, participate in case conferences concerning the child.

Consult Regularly

Communicate with your CASA Advocate Supervisor and GAL Attorney concerning the case to review progress, provide updates, and to receive support and guidance.

A Word from One Of Our Volunteers

I would highly recommend the CASA/GAL pre-service training! It is extremely informative, they walk you through an entire case from start to end, they teach you what your role is and how to get information. You learn the courtroom procedures and the dynamics of 'the system'. You are left feeling confident in your role as a CASA/GAL. The teachers are so nice and make it fun; yet, you learn SO much!"
